Moroccan Health Minister, Khaled Ait Taleb, has responded to concerns about injuries or deaths linked to the AstraZeneca vaccine. In his response, Minister Ait Taleb emphasized the importance of close patient monitoring and providing free healthcare to those experiencing serious side effects. He also highlighted the reporting mechanisms in place to collect data on post-vaccination side effects.
According to the Minister, over 8.8 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine have been administered in Morocco. Out of these, only 54,423 cases were officially reported. The World Health Organization classified 211 of these cases as serious.
It is worth noting that in February, a court in Morocco ordered the state to compensate a university professor who experienced health issues after receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine.
