Missouri Star Running Back Injured in Concert Shooting

Ahmad Hardy, renowned running back of the Missouri Tigers, is on the mend after a shooting incident at a concert in Mississippi early Sunday morning. This unexpected event has sent ripples of concern through the college football community.

Hardy, who was named first-team All-SEC last season, has undergone surgery and is reported to be in stable condition following the incident, as confirmed by a Monday statement.

According to the school, “Ahmad is cherished by teammates, coaches, friends, family, and fans. We will support him and his family during this challenging period, offering our love and prayers.”

As per ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Hardy is alert and already beginning to move around, which raises hopes for his return to football. However, officials have noted it’s premature to predict his return timeline.

Despite the uncertainty, the university has acknowledged that “a timeline for his return to football activities is not determined at this moment.”

A product of Oma, Mississippi, Hardy has been a standout player, amassing 1,649 rushing yards last season, ranking second among all Football Bowl Subdivision players.

In addition to his rushing yards, he scored 16 touchdowns while averaging an impressive 6.4 yards per carry. This performance solidified his reputation as one of the SEC’s formidable offensive players.

Prior to joining Missouri, Hardy transferred from UL Monroe, where he also showcased his talent with 1,351 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns in the 2024 season.

While details about the shooting remain scarce, including the circumstances surrounding it and any potential suspects, supporters continue to rally around Hardy, hoping for a positive recovery.
