The mother of transgender mass shooter Robin Westman is refusing to cooperate with police investigating Wednesday’s deadly attack at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis.
Police Chief Brian O’Hara said Thursday that investigators have been unable to make contact with Mary Grace Westman, who has not responded to outreach attempts.
Fox News reported that Westman has retained criminal defense attorney Ryan Garry. When asked why she hired an attorney, Garry said: “She is completely distraught about the situation and has no culpability but is seeking an attorney to deal with calls like this”
She worked at Annunciation as a secretary for five years before retiring in 2021.
Search Warrants Executed
O’Hara confirmed that officers carried out four search warrants and collected hundreds of pieces of evidence, including electronic devices.
He provided no further details on the evidence or the attempts to reach Westman.
Court records show Mary Grace signed her son’s legal name change paperwork in 2020, when Robin changed his birth name from Robert in support of his transgender identity.
Shooter’s Manifesto
A manifesto recorded and posted online by Robin before the attack revealed regret over his transition. “I’m tired of being trans, I wish I never brain-washed myself,” he wrote, according to The Post’s translation.
“I regret being trans. I wish I was a girl, I just know I cannot achieve that body with the technology we have today. I also can’t afford that,” the manifesto continued.
Deadly Attack
Robin, 23, opened fire through the stained-glass windows of Annunciation on Wednesday morning as children attended a back-to-school Mass. Two students were killed and 18 others wounded, including 15 children. Several victims remain in critical condition.
The gunman had previously graduated from Annunciation, located less than a mile from his family’s Minneapolis home.
