Microsoft is receiving criticism following the release of its recent diversity report, in which it proudly highlights the fact that it pays white employees less than their racial minority counterparts in similar positions.
The report goes on to emphasize that Asian employees earn more than both black and white employees who hold the same job titles, levels, and have similar lengths of service.
Microsoft’s 2023 Diversity and Inclusion Report promotes its commitment to “pay equity agenda,” acknowledging that eligible racial minority employees receive $1.007 for every $1 earned by their white colleagues.
Specifically, the report reveals that Black and African American employees earn $1.004, while Asian employees earn an even higher $1.012 for every $1 earned by white employees with matching job titles, levels, and tenure.
The report specifies that the data reflects overall compensation, encompassing base salary, yearly bonuses, and stock grants.
Microsoft additionally highlighted its efforts to promote progressive values among employees, with 96.4 percent indicating some level of familiarity with “allyship.”
