A Baltimore man convicted of viciously attacking two elderly pro-life activists outside a Planned Parenthood clinic in 2023 has been spared jail time, instead receiving home detention and probation.
Earlier this year, Patrick Brice was found guilty of assaulting Mark Crosby, 73, and Dick Schaefer, 80, during a May 2023 confrontation in Baltimore, Maryland.
Video released by police shows Brice kicking Crosby in the face, leaving him with permanent eye damage.

Attack Caught on Video
The footage shows Brice engaged in a heated exchange with the activists before rushing Schaefer from behind, tackling the 80-year-old over a concrete planter and knocking him to the ground.
When Crosby moved to help his fellow activist, Brice punched him repeatedly, knocked him to the pavement, straddled him, and kicked him in the head before walking away.
Crosby spent three days in the University of Maryland hospital’s shock trauma unit with serious injuries, including a fractured skull, damaged eye socket, and concussion. His right eye was permanently blinded. Schaefer recovered at home.
Judge Spares Jail Time
On Thursday, Baltimore City Circuit Judge Yvette M. Bryant sentenced Brice to one year of home detention and three years’ probation — no prison time.
In a June bench trial, Judge Bryant acquitted Brice of first-degree assault charges, claiming Crosby had “provoked” the defendant.
“Baltimore City is criminal-friendly. It’s not victim-friendly at all, especially if you’re a senior,” Crosby told the Daily Wire outside the courthouse. “Judges do not like pro-lifers… I don’t know why.”
