A terrifying mid-air incident unfolded Sunday morning aboard an easyJet flight from Luton to Glasgow, when a man stood up and began shouting about a bomb, making anti-American and anti-Trump threats, and yelling “Allahu Akbar.”
The 41-year-old suspect was restrained by passengers before the plane landed and was arrested by police on arrival in Glasgow.
“Find the bomb. Death to America. Death to Trump.”
Video footage from the 7am flight shows the man standing near the rear of the aircraft shouting:
“Stop the plane. Find the bomb on the plane. Death to America. Death to Trump.”
He then repeated “Allahu Akbar” three times as panicked passengers looked on.
A passenger in row 21 tackled the man to the floor, with others helping to pin him down.
“Sit down, don’t move,” one man ordered as he sat on top of the suspect.
Panic in the Cabin
Other passengers could be heard asking:
-
“Does he have a phone?”
-
“Do you have a bomb?”
-
“Has he been drinking or on drugs?”
They searched the man’s bag and checked his pockets and body while trying to find identification.
One woman could be heard crying and calling a loved one during the ordeal.
Arrest Upon Landing
When the plane landed around 8:20 a.m., Police Scotland officers boarded the aircraft and arrested the suspect.
“You’re calm now, are you going to be calm when I stand you up?” an officer asked.“I’m calm now,” the man replied.
As he was led off the plane, the man asked for his phone and wallet, prompting passengers to shout back “F* off”** and mock him.
“It’s like a comedy sketch,” one person said.
