Lori Lightfoot Issues Unhinged Threat Against Border Patrol Commander: ‘Day Of Reckoning’

After a senior U.S. Border Patrol official vowed to continue immigration operations in Chicago for years to come, former city mayor Lori Lightfoot responded with what could be interpreted as a threat.

U.S. Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino has been front and center for a number of federal immigration surges in the nation’s largest city’s. This includes Chicago, where Bovino has accompanied federal agents on missions as part of Operation Midway Blitz, the Trump Administration’s title for a months-long immigration operation in the Windy City.

“If you think we’re done with Chicago, you’d better check yourself before you wreck yourself,” Bovino recently posted on X in response to rumors that Midway Blitz was winding down. “Don’t call it a comeback; we’re gonna be here for years.”

An irate Lightfoot responded by suggesting that Bovino will be prosecuted should Democrats regain control of the federal government.

“Glory hound Greg Bovino cannot resist acting a fool in the third largest media market. The actions of the CBP militia under his command have been unconstitional [sic] and shameful. Hey, Greg, your day of reckoning is fast approaching,” she said.

Lightfoot, like a number of her fellow Illinois Democrats, has vowed to “resist” federal immigration authorities in ways that stretch the law. This past fall, the former mayor gloated to Fox 32 Chicago that she was launching a database aimed at documenting and “unmasking” federal immigration agents.

“We want to create a centralized archive of all the purported criminal actions of ICE and CBP agents,” Lightfoot said of her new website. “We want to create a portal where what’s happening real time can be centralized and put out for the public to view.”

Attorney General Pam Bondi told Fox News that the DOJ sent a legal notice to Lightfoot instructing her to preserve all relevant records to the formation of the database, adding that the department was probing for potential criminal wrongdoing.

“She will be getting a letter from us tomorrow to preserve anything that she’s done, as well to make sure that she’s not violating the law. It appears she is. You cannot disclose the identity of a federal agent, where they live, anything that could harm them,” she said. The attorney general went on to state that additional prominent Democrats would be receiving similar notices.

“Pritzker? Same ballgame with him. Pelosi got a letter today from Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche. So did Brooke Jenkins, that DA in San Francisco. We told them, preserve your emails, preserve everything you have on this topic, because if you are telling people to arrest our ICE officers, our federal agents. You cannot do that. You’re impeding an investigation, and we will charge them if they think I won’t.”
