Newsmax announced Friday that legendary conservative radio and television host Dr. Michael Savage will be returning to the air with a weekly show starting Sunday, January 26.
Savage, 82, will be returning to the airwaves after hosting a weekly podcast over the last few years. A mainstay in the conservative media ecosystem, Savage has coined a number of iconic terms like “liberalism is a mental disorder” and “Borders, Language, and Culture.”
The “Savage Nation” podcast currently boasts more than 20 million listeners, making it one of the most popular shows in the space.
He has also penned nine New York Times bestsellers and has authored 25 books overall.
An inductee into the Radio Hall of Fame, Dr. Savage aired “The Savage Nation” on national radio from 2003 to 2020 and had more than 11 million weekly listeners, making it No. 7 among all national radio shows.
“After many years of appearing on Newsmax TV as a guest on several shows every week, I am thrilled that I will have my own one-hour primetime show on Newsmax,” Savage announced in a video statement earlier this week.
Newsmax has billed the new iteration of “Savage Nation” as “a rallying cry for those who believe in preserving America’s fundamental identity — its ‘Borders, Language, and Culture.’”
The networks statement continued, “The show isn’t just about national identity; it also tackles the culture wars head-on, exploring everything from the erosion of traditional values to the manipulation of the media. Dr. Savage dives into politics, science, and the arts, offering no-nonsense critiques of the cultural elite. ‘Savage Nation’ offers a refreshing, unapologetic take on the issues that matter most to patriots.”
Newsmax CEO Chris Ruddy confirmed the new show in a statement of his own. “For decades, Michael has been a leading conservative voice, and we are pleased to bring his insightful and thoughtful take on politics and culture to our audience,” he said.
The new show, which is scheduled to debut on Sunday night, will feature Tucker Carlson as the first guest.
