Buffalo News editorial cartoonist Adam Zyglis is facing nationwide backlash after releasing a tone-deaf and hateful cartoon mocking the victims of the Texas flash flood disaster, which has already claimed at least 109 lives, including many children.
The cartoon — which Zyglis proudly posted to his Instagram account — shows a man drowning, wearing a MAGA hat, with a thought bubble that reads:
“Govt is the problem, not the solution.”
The implication? That Trump supporters deserved to die in the flood — a disgraceful insult to grieving families, many of whom lost daughters at Camp Mystic, a Christian girls’ summer camp.
Children Died — And the Left Mocked Them
Among the dead are young girls, camp counselors, and parents who were swept away when the Guadalupe River surged 30 feet in under an hour.
Survivors reported that counselors wrote the girls’ names on their bodies — not as a game, but in case they drowned.
This isn’t satire. It’s hatred. And it’s being celebrated by the media class.
Zyglis: Proud Far-Left Activist Masquerading as Journalist
Zyglis is a Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist who has worked for the Buffalo News since 2004. His cartoons frequently target President Trump, his supporters, and law enforcement agencies like ICE.
His work has also appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, and USA Today — all of which lean hard left and amplify anti-American rhetoric.
On his Instagram page, Zyglis brags about the cartoon — and his followers applaud it.
Not an Isolated Incident: Leftists Mocking the Dead
Zyglis isn’t alone.
Just days ago, a Houston pediatrician was fired after posting that Texas flood victims “got what they voted for.”
“This is the sort of pediatric clinician employed at @BlueFishMD in Houston,” one user wrote.“The ethics, humanity and empathy illustrated here is unfathomable.”
Real Heroes: Rescuers Working Day and Night
While the left mocks the dead, Americans are stepping up to save lives.
One hero is 26-year-old Coast Guard Petty Officer Scott Ruskan, who has reportedly rescued more than 165 people, most of them children stranded near Camp Mystic.
“They were cold, terrified, and just looking for someone to help,” Ruskan told Good Morning America.“I had to live up to that.”
Trump and Abbott Take Action
While Democrats sneer, President Donald Trump and Texas Governor Greg Abbott are delivering aid and leading rescue efforts.
Trump and First Lady Melania Trump are expected to visit Texas on Friday.
