Lara Trump to step down from role as RNC co-Chair

Last night Lara Trump announced that she’s stepping down from her role as co-chair of the RNC and their next meeting. She doesn’t say when that will be, but my guess is it will be soon:

Serving as the @GOP co-chair throughout the course of the most consequential election in American history has truly been the honor of my life.

At the RNC, we had three distinct goals:

1) surpass all fundraising records

2) build the largest army of lawyers and poll watchers to ensure election integrity

and, 3) turn out millions of Americans and low prepencity voters during early voting.

We accomplished all three.

.

Thank you to our incredible team at the RNC, our amazing @ChairmanWhatley, and, of course, thank you to President @realDonaldTrump — we are so proud of you and I’m grateful you trusted me in this position.

Some are saying this fuels speculation that she could be chosen as the next senator of Florida by Governor Ron DeSantis as he picks someone to replace Marco Rubio. I could be very wrong but I really don’t think this is going to happen, especially in the context of DeSantis being chosen by Trump as a backup replacement for Pete Hegseth – should his nomination for SecDef fail. That would suggest that DeSantis is doing Trump a favor to potentially get this cabinet position and I just don’t believe he would do that.
