FBI Director Kash Patel has discovered thousands of sensitive documents — including a classified annex to Special Counsel John Durham’s final report — hidden inside multiple “burn bags” in a secret room at the FBI’s Washington headquarters, sources told Fox News Digital.
The stunning revelation is the latest twist in Patel’s years-long crusade to expose the origins of the FBI’s discredited Trump–Russia probe, known as Crossfire Hurricane.
Burn Bags, Hidden Room, and SCIF Discovery
Patel uncovered a previously undisclosed SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility) buried deep within the Hoover Building.
Inside, his team found burn bags — used to destroy classified material — stuffed with thousands of documents and computer hard drives, some tied directly to Crossfire Hurricane and the FBI’s surveillance of Trump’s 2016 campaign.
One key document: the classified annex to Durham’s final report, now being declassified in coordination with CIA Director John Ratcliffe, DNI Tulsi Gabbard, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and NSA Director William Hartman.
“When I got to the FBI, I found a room Comey and others hid from the world,” Patel told Joe Rogan. “It was full of documents and hard drives no one had ever seen.”
Durham Annex Reveals Pre-FISA Intel Implicating the FBI
According to sources briefed on the annex, U.S. intelligence agencies had credible foreign intelligence suggesting that the FBI would help spread the Trump–Russia collusion narrative — before the Crossfire Hurricane investigation was even launched.
“With the benefit of hindsight, [the intelligence] predicted the FBI’s next move with alarming specificity,” a source told Fox News Digital.
“Mere days after this intelligence was collected, the FBI launched Crossfire Hurricane.”
The annex reportedly undermines claims by Brennan, Comey, and Clapper that the investigation was impartial.
“It’s hard to see how they’ll explain this away,” one source said.
Patel’s Discovery Tied to Senate Investigation
The document trove was uncovered following an investigative request from Senate Judiciary Chair Chuck Grassley, who is now reviewing the material.
Grassley plans to release a declassified version of the Durham annex in the coming days.
Patel is also turning over additional records to congressional committees conducting investigations into FBI misconduct and the weaponization of federal agencies.
Background: Patel’s Role in Exposing the Hoax
As chief investigator for Rep. Devin Nunes on the House Intelligence Committee, Patel was instrumental in:
-
Uncovering that the Clinton-funded Steele Dossier was used to obtain FISA warrants on Carter Page
-
Revealing that Comey and McCabe signed off on surveillance without disclosing partisan origins
-
Proving that the FBI’s case against Trump was built on discredited evidence and omitted facts
Patel Launches Criminal Probes Into Brennan, Comey
Now, as FBI Director, Patel has:
-
Opened a criminal investigation into John Brennan, based on a referral from DNI Ratcliffe
-
Launched a probe into James Comey for his role in concealing the secret SCIF and for his central role in Crossfire Hurricane
Patel, Nunes Accused of Being Targeted by DOJ
Former DOJ officials allegedly used grand jury subpoenas to spy on Patel and a Nunes staffer during their investigation into the FBI.
“The feds spied on Kash and ran information warfare against him,” Nunes told Fox News.
“But Kash helped expose them anyway.”
What’s Next: Grassley to Declassify Durham Annex
The annex will be publicly released by Sen. Grassley in coordination with Trump officials.
It is expected to validate long-standing claims that the FBI and intelligence community colluded with Democrats to falsely link Trump to Russia in 2016.
Patel continues to review and process the remaining documents for delivery to Congress.
