JUST IN: Anti-ICE Activist Shot In Minneapolis Identified

The anti-ICE agitator who was shot and killed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in south Minneapolis on Saturday has been identified as
Alex Jeffrey Pretti, 37.

According to a report from the Minnesota Star Tribune, Pretti was a resident of south Minneapolis, specifically in the Whittier neighborhood where the fatal shooting occurred.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that a loaded handgun was recovered from the scene, as well as an additional magazine. According to a statement from Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara, Pretti legally obtained the firearm and was licensed to carry at the time of the incident.

Footage from the scene shows Pretti following agents and filming them in the hours leading up to the incident. At one point, agents attempted to make an arrest of an anti-ICE agitator, at which point Pretti intervened and proceeded to struggle with agents.

A number of agents can then be seen wrestling with Pretti on the ground, some of whom can be heard yelling “gun” before shots rang out. DHS has said the victim was reaching for his firearm at the time of the shooting.

DHS confirmed that CBP agents were conducting a targeted enforcement operation in south Minneapolis against an illegal alien who was wanted for violent assault. The department further confirmed that Pretti approached them during the incident, at which point agents attempted to disarm him, at which point he “violently resisted,” prompting at least one agent to fire in self-defense,” CBP Commander Greg Bovino said during a press conference.

Emergency responders rendered aid at the scene, but Pretti was pronounced dead not long after.

DHS also described the man as intending “maximum damage” or to “massacre law enforcement” and criticized local officials for enabling far-left agitators to impede federal law enforcement.

According to local outlet KARE, Pretti was a licensed nurse and owned a home in south Minneapolis. He had no serious criminal history at the time of the shooting.

He appears to have been affiliated with anti-ICE protests, as evidenced by footage showing the lead-up to and during the incident. Renee Nicole Good — the woman who was shot and killed while accelerating towards an agent on January 7 — was also affiliated with a local “ICE Watch” organization.
