Judge Cannon Addresses Jack Smith’s Second Gag Order Request Against Trump

On Sunday, Judge Aileen Cannon responded to Special Counsel Jack Smith’s second request for a gag order against former President Donald Trump.

Judge Cannon ordered former President Donald Trump to respond to Special Counsel Smith’s second motion for a gag order by June 14.

Special Counsel Jack Smith is required to respond to Trump’s filing by June 21.

In another setback for Jack Smith, Judge Cannon is not expected to rule on his second gag order request until late June.

On Friday, Jack Smith filed a motion requesting another gag order on Trump regarding his statements about law enforcement and the Biden DOJ’s deadly force policy during the Mar-a-Lago raid.

According to recently unsealed documents, armed FBI agents were prepared to confront Trump at Mar-a-Lago.

The FBI had a medic on the scene and had identified a local trauma center for anyone “injured” during the raid.

“Law enforcement officers of the Department of Justice may use deadly force only when necessary, that is, when the officer has a reasonable belief that the subject of such force poses an imminent danger of death or serious physical injury to the officer or to another person,” the document on the use of deadly force read.

Judge Cannon previously denied Jack Smith’s request to prohibit Trump from criticizing law enforcement after it was revealed that Biden’s DOJ had authorized the use of deadly force during the Mar-a-Lago raid.

The names of the armed FBI agents involved in the Mar-a-Lago raid were redacted, yet Jack Smith still attempted to unlawfully silence Trump.

“The Government moves to modify defendant Donald J. Trump’s conditions of release, to make clear that he may not make statements that pose a significant, imminent, and foreseeable danger to law enforcement agents participating in the investigation and prosecution of this case,” Jack Smith wrote in his first motion seeking a gag order.

In Jack Smith’s second motion seeking a gag order, he referenced Trump’s post on Truth Social.

“Biden’s DOJ authorized use of DEADLY FORCE against President Trump in Mar-a-Lago raid,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
