Johnson removes Thomas Massie from Rules Committee but Massie says it was NOT retribution

It was announced this morning that Speaker Johnson removed Thomas Massive from the House rules committee and replaced him with Morgan Griffith:

This was seen by many as retribution against Massie for his no vote on Johnson for Speaker. But Massie says that’s not what happened:

I volunteered to step aside if the Speaker wanted to place someone else on the Rules Committee and he chose that option. This was not retribution for my vote against him.

I look forward to continuing my work on the Judiciary and Transportation committees.

Massie is a pretty honest fellow so you can bank on this being the truth if he’s saying it.
