Democratic Congressman Jim Himes has said that he is open to the impeachment of former Vice President and President Joe Biden if there is evidence that he committed impeachable offenses.
Himes, who is a member of the House Intelligence Committee, made the comments in an interview with MSNBC. He said that he believes that Biden should be held to the same standard as any other public official, and that if there is evidence that he abused his power, he should be impeached.
Himes said in part:
Let me say something that you never heard a Republican member of Congress say in the four years of the Trump administration, which is that if Hunter Biden broke the law, he should be prosecuted.
And it is clear that he broke the law with respect to taxes and possibly the ownership of a handgun.
He should be held accountable for that.
If he traded on his father’s influence, he should be held accountable for that.
And I’m emphasizing this because you never, ever heard a Republican say the same thing about Donald Trump or his family.
Now, to the question about impeachment, there is today zero evidence, zero evidence that Joe Biden, the president of the United States, knew about what his son was doing.
If, if he did know about it, if he participated in that, then that is a very different conversation.
Himes’s comments come amid growing calls for Biden’s impeachment from some Republicans. These calls have been based on allegations that Biden used his position as vice president to pressure the Ukrainian government to fire a prosecutor who was investigating his son, Hunter Biden.
Biden has denied these allegations, and there is no evidence that he committed any wrongdoing. However, Himes said that he believes that the allegations should be investigated thoroughly.
“I think that these allegations should be investigated,” Himes said. “And if there is evidence that Joe Biden abused his power, then he should be held accountable.”
It is unclear whether there is enough evidence to impeach Biden. However, Himes’s comments suggest that he is open to the possibility if there is evidence of wrongdoing.
Jim Himes’s comments about the potential impeachment of Joe Biden are significant because they come from a prominent Democrat. Himes is a member of the House Intelligence Committee, and he has been a vocal critic of President Donald Trump.
Himes’s comments suggest that some Democrats are open to the possibility of impeaching Biden if there is evidence that he committed impeachable offenses. This could put pressure on Biden to cooperate with any investigations into his actions in Ukraine.
It is important to note that there is no evidence that Biden committed any wrongdoing. However, the allegations against him have been serious enough to prompt calls for his impeachment.
Only time will tell whether there is enough evidence to impeach Biden. However, Himes’s comments suggest that the possibility is not off the table.
