Jennifer Runyon, Ghostbusters Actress, Dies at 65

Jennifer Runyon, an actress best known for roles in Ghostbusters and the sitcom Charles in Charge, has died at 65, her family confirmed. They said she passed Friday after battling cancer.

Family statement

Her family posted on Facebook that “This past Friday night our beloved Jennifer passed away. It was a long and arduous journey that ended with her surrounded by her family,” they wrote, according to TMZ.

A representative for Runyon told Us Weekly that she “passed away after a six-month battle with cancer.”

Career and credits

Runyon began acting in 1980 with her film debut in the horror movie To All a Goodnight and went on to roles in The Falcon and the Snowman, Up the Creek and The In Crowd.

On television she had a leading role as Gwendolyn Pierce on Charles in Charge and appeared on Another World, Quantum Leap, Murder, She Wrote, Beverly Hills, 90210 and A Man Called Sarge.

Survivors and tributes

Runyon married Todd Corman in 1991 and is survived by her husband and their children, Wyatt and Bayley. Her family said she would “always be remembered for her love of life and her devotion to her family and friends.”

Bayley Corman, who is also an actress and has appeared on “9-1-1,” posted a tribute to her mother on Instagram with photos spanning years of family memories.

“All of the best parts of me came from you. i would give anything for one more day together,” she wrote.

She described Runyon as “the kindest most compassionate person I’ve ever known. my best friend. i wasn’t ready for this.”

Actress Erin Murphy, known for “Bewitched,” also shared the news on Instagram. “So sad to share that my friend Jennifer Runyon Corman has passed away after a brief battle with cancer. 💔”
