Iran initiated a missile attack on Israel just after President Donald Trump declared a two-week suspension of U.S. strikes against the regime.
Trump outlined this pause late Tuesday, aiming to foster negotiations. However, sirens in Israel sounded almost instantly after his announcement on Truth Social.
Fox News correspondent Mike Tobin, reporting from Tel Aviv, noted that the missile assault commenced within moments of Trump’s post.
“Jesse, immediately following the ceasefire announcement, we were hit with missile fire. Not five minutes elapsed from the Truth Social update to alerts of missiles launched from Iran. The initial missile was intercepted, with debris landing outside of Jerusalem without causing damage,” Tobin told Jesse Watters.
Tobin described the weaponry as resembling cluster bombs, likening their appearance to festive fireworks as they break apart in the sky. They illuminate brightly before detonating upon impact.
This latest offensive highlights the fragile state of the ceasefire, even as Israeli officials expressed a willingness to heed Trump’s request for restraint.
Israeli leadership remains dissatisfied with Iran’s diplomatic overtures and advocates for further military gains prior to any ceasefire.
“Regarding the ceasefire, Israeli officials indicated they desired additional military objectives completed before agreements were made. They are not favorably impressed with Iran’s 10-point proposal but have committed to observing the ceasefire, recognizing it as President Trump’s call,” Tobin stated.
Previously, Trump intensified his rhetoric, warning the Iranians would face severe consequences if they did not comply with reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
He also downplayed concerns over potential accusations of war crimes related to military actions in Iran.
