Iran Displays Vast Suicide Drone Arsenal in New Propaganda

The Iranian military has unveiled a provocative propaganda video, claiming it was shot inside a vast underground “missile city.” This footage showcases an extensive inventory of naval suicide drones, anti-ship missiles, and sea mines as Tehran issues warnings to maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.

Aired by Iranian state media, the video highlights long corridors filled with drones on launch rails and mobile missile systems ready for deployment. It also features impressive clips showing these weapons in action.

Experts who analyzed the footage noted multiple types of weaponry that Iran emphasizes in this showcase.

Included in the underground arsenal are:

– Abadil-2/3 drones, designed for single-use strikes against ships.

– Shahed-136 drones, recognized for land attacks, with variants suited for naval operations.

– Zolfaqar drones, which are small, explosive-laden boats meant to attack larger vessels in swarms.

– Ghadir anti-ship cruise missiles, known for a range of 190 miles, displayed on mobile launchers.

– Nasr-1 missiles, effective for coastal defense, can be launched from speedboats or bunkers.

– Khalij Fars missiles, which Iran claims can accurately target moving sea vessels using advanced guidance systems.

– Maham sea mines that can activate without direct contact by detecting a ship’s signature.

– Sadaf-02 mines, contact-triggered and frequently loaded onto smaller vessels.

Brig. Gen. Ali Fadavi from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps seized this moment to issue stern warnings regarding future military actions.

β€œOur underwater missiles operate at a speed of 100 meters per second, and we may deploy them in the near future,” he stated during a televised address.

Tehran’s rhetoric around the Strait of Hormuz serves as a lever, threatening to disrupt global energy supplies and increase oil prices sharply. Officials have made menacing remarks about potential escalations in the Persian Gulf.

β€œAny aggression against our islands will trigger a violent response, and we will not hold back,” warned Iran’s parliament speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.

This video release coincides with Iran’s ongoing military operations, underlining their readiness to retaliate against perceived threats, including concerns regarding potential drone activities targeting the U.S. from undisclosed locations.

Iran has employed “missile city” reveals in the past to showcase military strength and intimidate foes. This recent release sends a clear message: despite facing external pressures, the regime wants to project its capability to threaten critical maritime routes and retaliate against any challengers.
