U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested an illegal alien who allegedly threatened to assassinate President Donald Trump in Wisconsin. Ramon Morales-Reyes, 54, allegedly made the threat when responding to the Trump Administration’s offer to help him self-deport.
Morales-Reyes, a Mexican national, entered the United States illegally on nine separate occasions between 1999 and 2005.
He accumulated a lengthy criminal record over that time period, including arrests for felony hit-and-run, criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct with a “domestic abuse modifier,” the Department of Homeland Security announced in a statement.
The illegally alien allegedly threatened to kill Trump in a handwritten note that was mailed to an ICE officer. In response to the administration’s self-deportation push, Morales-Reyes said he would self-deport after he shot the president in the head.
“We are tired of this president messing with us Mexicans – We have done more for this country than you white people – you have been deporting my family and I think it is time Donald J. Trump get what he has coming to him,” reads the letter, a copy of which was provided to Fox News.
“I will self deport myself back to Mexico but not before I use my 30 yard 6 to shoot your precious president in is head – I will see him at one of his big ralleys [sic].” An ICE source told the outlet that Morales-Reyes was referring to a Springfield rifle.
“Thanks to our ICE officers, this illegal alien who threatened to assassinate President Trump is behind bars,” DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said after the Mexican national was arrested.
“This threat comes not even a year after President Trump was shot in Butler, Pennsylvania, and less than two weeks after former FBI Director Comey called for the president’s assassination. All politicians and members of the media should take notice of these repeated attempts on President Trump’s life and tone down their rhetoric. I will continue to take all measures necessary to ensure the protection of President Trump,” Noem added.
Morales-Reyes is currently being held at Dodge County Jail in Juneau, Wisconsin and will be deported, DHS said.
The arrest comes as the Department of Justice proceeds with its case against Ryan Routh, the man accused of attempting to assassinate then-candidate Trump at his West Palm Beach golf course last summer. Routh was positioned in a concealed sniper’s nest just outside the course when he was engaged by a Secret Service agent.
Recently released court documents revealed that Routh had numerous contacts with foreign individuals and groups, including a human smuggler in Mexico. He also attempted to smuggle Afghan and Syrian nationals into Ukraine in order to enlist them into the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
