On July 4, a group of far-left extremists attacked the ICE detention facility in Alvarado, Texas, targeting federal officers with gunfire and explosives.
According to the Justice Department, 10 suspects have been charged on Monday with attempted murder of federal officers and using firearms during a violent crime.
They allegedly opened fire on officers, set off fireworks, and defaced property with phrases like “ICE pig” and “F— you pigs.”
When local police responded, one officer was shot in the neck by a gunman hiding in nearby woods. Another suspect in a green mask fired 20–30 rounds at unarmed correction officers outside the facility.

Armed and Organized
The suspects were dressed in military-style black clothing, some wearing body armor and carrying AR-style rifles and radios. Law enforcement found:

One suspect carried two cellphones inside a Faraday bag, often used to evade law enforcement tracking.
Another Attack in McAllen
That same day, in McAllen, Texas, another suspect opened fire on federal agents and a U.S. Border Patrol facility, injuring an officer before being shot and killed.
The shooter was identified as 27-year-old Ryan Louis Mosqueda, reportedly suffering from mental health issues and armed with an assault rifle. Police found graffiti—possibly in Latin—painted on his car.
Portland: More Attacks on ICE
The DOJ also reported that four more suspects were arrested in Portland, Oregon on July 4 for attacking another ICE facility.

Despite the seriousness of the charges, three suspects were released after appearing in court.
DOJ Response: No Tolerance
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche posted a warning on X, stating:
“The Department has zero tolerance for assaults on federal officers or property and will bring the full weight of the law against those responsible.”
He confirmed the DOJ is closely monitoring ongoing attacks against DHS detention facilities in Texas and Oregon.
