House Panel Votes to Subpoena Bill and Hillary Clinton Over Alleged Epstein Links

A subcommittee of the House Oversight Committee voted on Wednesday to authorize subpoenas for Bill and Hillary Clinton and several former Justice Department officials as part of an expanded investigation into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell.

The motion was introduced by Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) during a hearing of the Oversight Subcommittee on Federal Law Enforcement. The measure was approved by voice vote without a recorded roll call.

The proposed subpoenas include:

  • Former President Bill Clinton

  • Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton

  • Former FBI Director James Comey

  • Former Special Counsel Robert Mueller

  • Former Attorneys General Loretta Lynch, Eric Holder, Merrick Garland, Bill Barr, Jeff Sessions, and Alberto Gonzales

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) would need to formally issue the subpoenas for them to take effect.

Background on Clinton-Epstein Ties

In his 2024 memoir Citizen: My Life After the White House, Bill Clinton acknowledged flying on Epstein’s private jet, sometimes called the “Lolita Express,” in connection with work for the Clinton Global Initiative. He wrote: “I wish I had never met him,” referencing the scrutiny that followed the association.

Visitor logs show Epstein visited the White House at least 17 times in 1993, shortly after Clinton took office.

DOJ Seeking to Unseal Grand Jury Records

This development comes as the Department of Justice has filed motions in federal court to unseal grand jury transcripts related to Epstein’s criminal investigations. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche filed the motion in the Southern District of New York, stating that the department is pursuing transparency regarding the case.

Maxwell was convicted in 2021 of sex trafficking and related conspiracy charges. She is currently serving a 20-year federal prison sentence.
