Hegseth’s Vague Tweet Following Wiles’ Dismissal Raises Eyebrows

Pete Hegseth shared a succinct message on Friday as President Trump made significant changes within his White House team.

His words, “Patriots in control,” were posted on X at 2:27 p.m., shortly after it was revealed that Susie Wiles would be replaced by Stephen Miller as chief of staff.

While Hegseth’s tweet did not reference either Wiles or Miller directly, the timing suggested he was commenting on the recent upheaval in the administration.

Trump confirmed that Miller, currently serving as deputy chief of staff, would officially assume his new role on November 9, with Wiles transitioning to the president’s political operations.

The president acknowledged Wiles’ effectiveness in her position, while promoting one of his staunchest supporters of his immigration policies.

This move comes after disappointing results for Republicans in the midterm elections, with Hegseth also navigating his own challenges regarding Pentagon leadership and ongoing international conflicts.

The day before, he had released a powerful video supporting the administration’s achievements and countering impeachment threats.

In that video, he cited improvements at the Pentagon, arguing that pushback against him was a response to successfully implementing Trump’s agenda.

Hegseth’s Friday post resonates with themes from his prior speech, where he claimed that patriots were indeed in charge as he addressed transformations within the Pentagon.

Trump had recently voiced his support for Hegseth amid speculations regarding fallout following the elections.

With Miller’s elevation, a dedicated Trump ally steps into a pivotal role as the administration prepares for interactions with a Democratic-led Congress.

Hegseth’s tweet remained ambiguous about his own situation and did not overtly endorse the leadership change.
