Elisabeth Hasselbeck largely defended President Trump’s strikes on Iran while liberal co-hosts on The View criticized the operation.
Whoopi Goldberg, Ana Navarro and Sunny Hostin led the on-air criticism on Monday.
Goldberg opened by noting that a fourth soldier was declared dead and asked whether Americans would support another military operation in the Middle East.
Navarro said public backing would depend on whether the president clearly explains the mission and its endgame.
She added she was “furious” that the U.S. was going into war without congressional approval and accused Trump of politically benefiting from conflict.
Hasselbeck Pushes Back
Hasselbeck delivered the clearest on-air defense, acknowledging war fatigue while arguing strength is sometimes required to secure peace.
She compared the constant barrage of information to a political concussion and said the families of fallen soldiers would not see their sacrifice squandered and that “this war will be won.”
Hasselbeck outlined broader stakes, saying the strikes could give hope to 47 million Iranian women, topple a terror regime, and strategically choke oil flows to China.
She praised the president and the military for what she described as strategic moves that align with putting America first, including cutting oil supplies from Venezuela and reducing Iran’s oil access.
Legal Questions and Caution
Sunny Hostin called the conflict illegal and unconstitutional and said only Congress can wage war.
She argued the president lacked a real strategy and mocked him as having only “concepts of a plan.”
Sara Haines offered a cautious take, saying the fall of Iran’s top leadership could be positive if it truly weakens a major state sponsor of terror but warned that the aftermath remains uncertain.
Goldberg said she was watching carefully but was not optimistic about outside powers deciding who should lead Iran next.
