Hamill’s Distasteful Post Sparks Outrage Over Trump Imagery

Actor Mark Hamill is encountering significant criticism after he shared a post on Bluesky that seemingly shows President Donald Trump deceased in a grave, captioned with “If Only.”

The image, which was posted from Hamill’s verified account, features Trump lying beneath a gravestone inscribed with “DONALD J. TRUMP 1946–2024.” On the bottom, the words “If Only” are prominently displayed.

Adding his own remarks, Hamill commented, “If Only. He should live long enough to witness his inevitable devastating loss in the midterms, be held accountable for his unprecedented corruption, impeached, convicted & humiliated for his countless crimes. Long enough to realize he’ll be disgraced in the history books, forevermore. #don_TheCON.”

The post has faced sharp rebuke online, with many arguing that the visual of a dead president takes on a serious tone in a nation tense from recent assassination attempts and threats.

While Hamill’s text suggests Trump should “live long enough” to confront defeat and legal repercussions, critics were more focused on the grave imagery coupled with the phrase “If Only.”

The backlash has also reignited discussions surrounding Disney’s Star Wars franchise. Hamill is permanently associated with the role of Luke Skywalker, regardless of his current involvement in promotional efforts.

This controversy comes at a time when Disney and Lucasfilm are gearing up for the release of The Mandalorian and Grogu, following years of uncertainty regarding the brand’s cinematic future.

Hamill has a history of using social media to criticize Trump, but many believe this particular post crossed a line by combining a grave scene with the words “If Only.”

It remains uncertain whether Disney will address the situation publicly. For now, the image continues to make rounds beyond Bluesky as discussions on celebrity political statements and the increasing use of provocative imagery heat up.
