Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) said Sunday he would support offering Ghislaine Maxwell some form of clemency if it meant securing her testimony on the Jeffrey Epstein child sex trafficking network.
Massie is leading a bipartisan effort in Congress to force the release of the Epstein files and believes Maxwell’s cooperation could help expose key details.
“Whatever they need to do to compel that testimony, as long as it’s truthful, I would be in favor of,” Massie told Meet the Press.
Trump: “I’m allowed to do it”
Last Friday, President Donald Trump was asked about a possible pardon for Maxwell. He said he hadn’t considered it but added, “I’m allowed to do it.”
Trump’s former defense attorney, now Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, reportedly met with Maxwell for several hours last Thursday and Friday. She is currently serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking and other crimes.
Bipartisan Divide on Clemency
Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), who partnered with Massie to demand full release of the Epstein records, strongly opposed the idea of clemency.
“No, I don’t,” Khanna said. “She’s been indicted twice for perjury… This is why we need the files. This is why we need independent evidence.”
Khanna also expressed concern about Blanche’s one-on-one meetings with Maxwell.
Calls for Full Transparency
Both lawmakers agree that Maxwell should testify, and that the Epstein files must be made public. Their joint push has brought renewed attention to the case, as questions swirl over who else was involved in Epstein’s criminal network.
Massie emphasized the public’s right to know the full scope of what happened:
“Let’s get that out there.”
