Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has been discharged from a New Hampshire hospital and “is progressing well” after being injured in a weekend car crash, his spokesman said Tuesday.
“Thank you to all the people that have reached out since learning the news about my Father,” Giuliani’s son, Andrew Giuliani, wrote on X. “Your prayers mean the world.”
Giuliani’s Statement of Thanks
Giuliani, 81, was injured Saturday when the rented Ford Bronco he was riding in was struck from behind on Interstate 93.
“He has since been discharged from the hospital and deeply appreciates the love, well wishes, and prayers he has received,” spokesman Ted Goodman said. Giuliani also extended his gratitude to state police, paramedics, and medical staff at Elliot Hospital for their “outstanding care.”
Details of the Crash
Goodman was driving with Giuliani as a passenger when their SUV was rear-ended by a Honda HR-V driven by a 19-year-old woman, New Hampshire State Police said. Both vehicles hit the median and were “heavily damaged.”
Goodman and the 19-year-old suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Giuliani sustained a fractured thoracic vertebra, multiple lacerations and contusions, and injuries to his left arm and lower leg, according to Michael Ragusa, his head of security.
State police said the crash remains under investigation. No charges have been filed.
Stopped to Help Domestic Violence Victim
Prior to the collision, Giuliani and Goodman had pulled over after being flagged down by a woman reporting a domestic violence incident along the highway. Goodman contacted law enforcement and both men stayed with her until troopers arrived.
Investigators said the domestic violence report and the crash were unrelated.
