On Friday, a super PAC affiliated with California’s Democratic Governor, Gavin Newsom, aired a deceptive television advertisement in Tennessee. This ad employs fear tactics to disseminate false information about a bill aimed at preventing minors from being transported across state lines for abortions without parental consent.
The narrator of the video tells viewers, “Trump Republicans want to criminalize young women who travel to receive the reproductive care they need. Don’t let them hold Tennessee women hostage.”

In September 2023, a bill was signed by Newsom to protect abortion providers who send abortion pills to pro-life states from facing legal action. Additionally, in February 2023, Newsom spearheaded a coalition of 20 Democratic governors to advocate for abortion rights in their respective states.
