Gavin Newsom Goes There on DeSantis: ‘Neither Of Us Will Be Party’s Nominee’

California Governor Gavin Newsom wasn’t afraid to ‘go there’ on Florida Governor Ron DeSantis at their primetime debate on Thursday night.

“There are profound differences, tonight I look forward to engage them, but one thing, in closing, we have in common: Neither of us will be the nominee for our party in 2024.”

The look on DeSantis’ face was priceless.

Newsom’s remark may seem like just a cheap one-liner, but it’s also an attempt to downplay rampant speculation that the California Gov. might sweep into the 2024 race at the last moment to save the Democratic Party from the abysmal Biden presidency.

Trump supporters, understandably, thought the remark was a humdinger.

Despite the clamoring of Trump supporters on the Newsom zinger, however, DeSantis had some ammunition of his own on hand for the debate on “Hannity.”

“They actually at one point ran out of u-hauls in the state of California because so many people were leaving,” DeSantis pointed out.

In another highlight, the Florida Gov. revealed Gavin Newsom’s own father in-law fled commie California to live in Florida due to how the states are governed.

Newsom tried to object to DeSantis’ narrative with highly dubious “facts.”

Journalist Greg Price fact-checked Newsom on his desperate attempt to deny political reality.

DeSantis also hammered Newsom on the state’s dire finances despite having some of the highest taxes in the nation.

“DeSantis surgically flays Newsom on taxes and the economy of Florida vs California,” said Scott Morefield. “It’s a small clip, but it’s a microcosm of the whole debate. One guy who is admittedly a smooth talker with lots of pretty but empty words against a stone-cold assassin who knows his stuff.”

The DeSantis-Newsom debate was an entertaining glimpse at what the two politicians would look like if they squared off in a presidential debate in an alternate universe.

But as Newsom’s one-liner suggests, that would be highly unlikely. Nonetheless, it is great to see an actual policy debate between state governors on primetime television. America could definitely use more of this exposure to the important political debates of our time.

Newsome needs a brain check – folks can’t get out of CA fast enough and the only way Newsome would have a chance at anything is if everyone else was dead. His family gave him WAY too much credit all his miserable life – who are still the only ones behind him. I believe he’s Pelosi’s nephew – need I say more about the Newsome clan? Insider trading, bribed by the CCP – his and his family’s actions speak much much MUCH louder than anything falling from their maws.
