Explosion at LA County Sheriff’s Department Facility Leaves 3 Dead

At least three deputies are dead after a deadly explosion rocked the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) Special Operations Bureau on Friday morning.

The blast occurred shortly after 7:30 a.m. local time at the Biscailuz Training Facility in East Los Angeles. According to multiple sources, the explosion was not part of any planned training exercise.

Sources say the explosion happened while deputies were moving ordnance.

It’s uncertain what exactly detonated or how the explosion occurred.

Deputies were reportedly working near or in the arson and explosives truck.

Homicide detectives are leading the LASD investigation.

FBI, ATF, DHS Respond

The explosion triggered an immediate multi-agency response:

FBI and ATF are on site.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed DHS is involved.

Cal OES (Governor’s Emergency Services) offered full state assistance.

Bondi, Lawmakers React

Attorney General Pam Bondi released a statement following the tragedy: “I just spoke to @USAttyEssayli about what appears to be a horrific incident that killed at least three at a law enforcement training facility in Los Angeles. Our federal agents are at the scene and we are working to learn more. Please pray for the families of the sheriff’s deputies killed.”

LAFD Capt. Erik Scott: “We stand with our brothers and sisters of the @LASDHQ following the tragic loss.”

Mayor Karen Bass: “The thoughts of all Angelenos are with all of those impacted.”

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp: “Marty, the girls, and I are praying for the families of those killed in today’s accident.”
