London’s High Court is set to hear a billion-dollar legal case involving pharma giants Moderna, Pfizer, and BioNTech over Covid patents.
The case revolves around Moderna’s claim that Pfizer and BioNTech breached its patents related to mRNA technology used in Covid vaccines. Moderna is seeking compensation and damages rather than attempting to remove the vaccines from the market. Both Pfizer and BioNTech have countersued, claiming that Moderna’s patents are invalid.
The trial will take place in the Chancery Division of the High Court in London and is expected to last under four weeks. The first part of the trial will focus on the patents, while the second part will examine Moderna’s 2020 pledge not to enforce its Covid-related patents during the pandemic.
