In a Truth Social post today, Donald Trump announced that his attorneys had a “productive” meeting with the DOJ this morning.
The meeting occurred with special counsel Jack Smith’s team and Smith was reportedly present for the meeting as well.
Trump had confirmed receipt of a letter alerting him that he is a target of the January 6th Grand Jury investigation.
The meeting came following the receipt of the letter and Trump attorneys John Lauro and Todd Blanche were reportedly there to make the case for why they believed Trump shouldn’t be indicted.
According to ABC News, the meeting ended after an hour and as they noted, Trump has denied all wrongdoing and has dismissed the probes as a political witch hunt.
Trump declared in the Truth Social post, “My attorneys had a productive meeting with the DOJ this morning, explaining in detail that I did nothing wrong, was advised by many lawyers, and that an Indictment of me would only further destroy our Country.”
“No indication of notice was given during the meeting — Do not trust the Fake News on anything!” Trump added.
Following that Truth Social post, Trump then shared another poll that shows him with a big lead in the Republican presidential primary and another with a video of him attacking Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis, who is currently his closest competitor in the poll.
