Legendary country singer Dolly Parton has made the difficult decision to cancel her Las Vegas residency as she navigates persistent health challenges. In a heartfelt social media video, she provided her fans with an honest update on her condition.
The 80-year-old artist had initially slated her residency for December 2025, later moving it to September 2026. However, she now indicates that more time is needed for her recovery before gracing the stage once again.
“I appreciate your love and support over the past year. I’m still healing, but I’m on the right path. I’ll see you soon!” she expressed in her message.
During the video, Parton directly addressed her fans, noting that while her health is improving, she is not yet ready to perform. “The bad news is… it’s going to take me a little while before I’m up to stage performance level because some of the meds and treatments make me a little bit swimmy-headed,” she explained with her typical humor.
Health and Healing Journey
Parton humorously mentioned the challenges of managing her health while keeping her performance standards high. “I can’t be dizzy carrying around banjos and guitars while wearing five-inch heels!” she quipped.
Beyond her physical health issues, Parton has also faced emotional difficulties following the passing of her husband, Carl Dean, in 2025. She has openly shared how this loss has impacted her overall well-being.
Her journey has also included focusing on emotional and spiritual healing, likening herself to an old classic car in need of repairs. “Once restored, I can be better than ever. But when they raised the hood, they found that I need to rebuild my engine and fix a few things,” she shared.
Continuing Her Work
Despite the cancelation, Parton remains actively engaged in her career. She continues to record, film, and work on projects related to Dollywood, as well as her anticipated Broadway production.
Parton reassured fans, stating, “The truth is, I am still working. I still do videos. I still record. And I’m looking forward to opening my museum and hotel in Nashville later this year.”
In closing, she expressed optimism about her health, indicating that her conditions are treatable, which brings her hope for a speedy recovery. “I have great doctors, and they assure me that everything is manageable. Thank you for your continued support and love!”
