In a major development, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi has directed a federal prosecutor to begin grand jury proceedings tied to the Russia collusion hoax, following a criminal referral from Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, Fox News Digital reported Monday.
The move signals that the Department of Justice under President Trump is prepared to pursue criminal charges in connection with what Gabbard described as a “treasonous conspiracy” to undermine the 2016 election and the Trump presidency.
Bondi Acts on Gabbard’s Referral
According to a letter obtained by Fox News Digital, Bondi has instructed an unnamed federal prosecutor to present declassified intelligence and DOJ evidence to a grand jury in pursuit of possible indictments.
A DOJ spokesperson declined to confirm the specific targets of the probe but emphasized that Bondi is taking the referral “very seriously.” The spokesperson added:
“Attorney General Bondi believes there is clear cause for deep concern and a need to take the next steps.”
Gabbard: “Treasonous Conspiracy at the Highest Levels”
The investigation follows last week’s bombshell disclosure by DNI Tulsi Gabbard, who declassified a December 2016 presidential briefing that revealed President Barack Obama was aware the Trump-Russia collusion narrative was false—yet allowed it to be weaponized anyway.
“These documents detail a treasonous conspiracy by officials at the highest levels of the Obama White House,” Gabbard stated.
“They sought to subvert the will of the American people and usurp the President’s ability to fulfill his mandate.”
Gabbard’s referral included declassified intelligence assessments showing that:
-
There was no cyber manipulation of U.S. election infrastructure in 2016
-
Foreign adversaries did not alter the outcome of the presidential election
-
The Trump-Russia narrative was manufactured and politicized from the start
Grand Jury Now Reviewing Evidence
The grand jury will now review DOJ evidence and witness testimony related to:
-
The origins of the Trump-Russia collusion hoax
-
Potential intelligence fabrication or political weaponization by senior Obama-era officials
-
Whether crimes were committed during the manufacture and spread of disinformation aimed at undermining President Trump
Fox News noted that sources have privately speculated James Comey, John Brennan, and others could face scrutiny as part of the inquiry.
