Though the mainstream media appears to have moved on, at least for the moment, from the Kilmar Abrego Garcia case, many Americans are still fuming over the actions of the MS-13 Caucus, where five Democrats flew to the illegal immigrant’s home country of El Salvador to plead for his return to the United States.
Abrego Garcia, as we’ve reported, is an alleged MS-13 gang member, an accused domestic abuser, and suspected human smuggler who was deported back to El Salvador by the Trump administration in mid-March. Because he has been incorrectly described by the press as a “wrongly deported Maryland man,” Democrats have made him their poster child for opposition to President Trump’s deportation policies.
Reps. Robert Garcia (CA), Maxwell Frost (FL), Yassamin Ansari (AZ), and Maxine Dexter (OR) traveled to the country a week ago, hot on the heels of Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) concluding his own margarita-sipping taxpayer-funded trip without success. For the record, the House Democrats’ trip wasn’t funded by taxpayer money thanks to Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY).
Though the House Dems, too, were unsuccessful in their mission, it wasn’t without much virtue-signaling on their part, with various videos and photos posted from the trip.
But as first revealed by The Daily Caller, it appears that some of the imagery those House Democrats used for backdrops in their postings was deliberate, perhaps to conceal the fact that they were staying at a luxury Hilton hotel the entire time they were there:
The San Salvador hotel boasts rooms with scenic views of the capital city’s landscape and an outdoor terrace where guests can enjoy margaritas and dine on local culinary treats, including made-to-order pupusas. The hotel is described as providing a “tranquil retreat” for “those seeking comfort and convenience,” according to Hotels.com. Google rates the property as a five-star hotel.

Ansari posted a video shot in her hotel room explaining her visit to El Salvador with only the curtains and blank wall space visible.

Dexter neglected to mention that she filmed the protest message in a space similar to that of the Hilton San Salvador’s terrace area, which the hotel boasts as the optimal space for relaxation.
The DC also quoted an NRCC spokesperson as slamming the Democrats for choosing a “tropical vacation” over the needs of their constituents, noting that “While the American people suffer the consequences of the Biden Border Crisis importing illegal immigrant crime and fentanyl, these Democrats demonstrated again they are completely out of touch with voters.”
While this isn’t as bad from an optical standpoint as Van Hollen conferring with Abrego Garcia over margaritas, it is nevertheless still a terrible look and one that undoubtedly will be used against them in the 2026 midterms, as will Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s “Fight Oligarchy” tour where the New York Democrat is, along with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), using expensive private jets.
And to make matters worse for Democrats, a recent CBS News poll confirms that the American people remain supportive of Trump’s deportation policies despite the left’s/media’s disinformation campaign and Resistance efforts from woke Wisconsin judges. It’s truly a testament to the immense and understandable frustration voters have long had over the situation at the southern border that they are sticking with Trump on this issue amid the deluge of negative (and false) talking points and hysteria coming from the Usual Suspects.
Garcia had 2 deportation orders on him, already,1 from an appellate court upholding the lower court decision, so keeping him here was the crime. He is right where he belongs now, out of us jurisdiction and “hair”. America does not NEED imported criminals, we have plenty of “home growns”!
