Dem Governor Wes Moore Praises Trump for Securing the Border

Democrat Governor Wes Moore stunned viewers Friday night by offering unexpected praise for President Donald Trump’s border security achievements.

During an interview with Bret Baier on Fox News’ Special Report, Moore—whose name has been floated as a 2028 presidential contender—acknowledged the effectiveness of the Trump administration’s border actions.

“You’ve got to be able to secure the border,” Moore said. “You have to be able to work to get violent criminals out of our neighborhoods.”

When Baier asked directly, “And you give credit to the Trump administration for the securing of the border, right?” Moore replied:

“Oh, yeah… We have watched a securing of a border, which becomes incredibly important.”

Democrat Tries to Backpedal

Moore later couched his remarks by echoing typical Democrat objections—claiming mass deportations target “non-violent” individuals like chicken plant workers and single parents.

He pushed back on deportation quotas, saying the 3,000-per-day figure “is not a data-backed number,” and gave examples of employers upset about losing illegal workers.

But Moore’s initial admission was clear: Trump’s border policies worked—and securing the border matters.

Big Beautiful Bill: Border Enforcement Supercharged

His comments come as the Trump administration’s Big Beautiful Bill begins to take effect after being signed on July 4.

Key provisions include:

  • ICE funding jump from $2 billion to $70 billion

  • $45 billion for expanded detention centers

  • $30 billion to hire new immigration agents

White House Border Czar Tom Homan said the goal is 7,000 deportations a day, noting it would take that number daily just to catch up with the flood of illegal aliens released under Biden.

“For those that say 3,000 a day is too much,” Homan said, “do the math.”
