Deadline On Alleged ‘Ransom Note’ For Nancy Guthrie’s Return ‘Coming Up Fast’

The clock may be ticking in the case of Nancy Guthrie, as a deadline tied to an alleged ransom note demanding her return appears to be approaching rapidly.

TMZ reported Tuesday that it received an alleged ransom note calling for millions of dollars in bitcoin in exchange for Nancy’s safe return. The message was immediately turned over to law enforcement. By Wednesday, Savannah Guthrie released a video addressed directly to the alleged captors, saying she was willing to talk and asking for proof that her mother is alive.

The timing is notable. Sources connected to the investigation said the ransom note made clear there would be no negotiation and laid out firm deadlines, complete with an implied “or else” if demands were not met.

The alleged note also referenced two specific items in and around Nancy Guthrie’s home. Investigators familiar with the case said those descriptions appeared accurate, heightening concerns that whoever sent the message may have direct knowledge of the property.

Savannah’s video plea came as one of the deadlines outlined in the note is said to be closing in. The family’s response suggests they are taking the threat seriously, even as authorities continue to evaluate whether the message is authentic.

Questions have also surfaced about the timing of the alleged ransom demand itself. The note was sent roughly two days after Nancy was first reported missing, a delay that has drawn attention from investigators.

Nancy Guthrie, 84, has a pacemaker and requires daily medication to stay alive. Authorities have said she has been without that medication since her disappearance, adding urgency to the search.

In her video, Savannah focused on humanizing her mother rather than the money or the crime, a move that may be aimed at appealing directly to whoever may be holding Nancy.

Law enforcement continues to assess the credibility of the alleged ransom note and how it fits into the broader timeline of the case, as the reported deadline draws closer.
