Dan Bongino Praised for First Move as Deputy Director of the FBI

Dan Bongino wasted no time making an impact in his new role as Deputy Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Shortly after being sworn in, Bongino paid tribute to fallen FBI agents by visiting the agency’s Wall of Honor, a gesture that quickly garnered widespread praise from supporters.

The FBI’s official account shared the moment on social media, stating, “After his swearing-in ceremony as FBI Deputy Director, Dan Bongino paid his respects at the Wall of Honor, honoring the brave members of the #FBI who made the ultimate sacrifice and reflecting on the legacy of those who paved the way in the pursuit of justice and security.”

Bongino, a former Secret Service agent and NYPD officer, was appointed to the position by President Donald Trump, marking a notable change in leadership within the bureau. While his appointment has been met with criticism from some in the political and media circles, his decision to honor the agency’s fallen heroes has been viewed as a strong first step in his tenure.

Bongino’s supporters argue that his extensive experience in law enforcement makes him well-suited for the role, despite not having an FBI background. Having served in the Secret Service under multiple administrations and worked in law enforcement at the local level, many see him as a much-needed outsider who can bring reform to an agency that has faced widespread criticism in recent years.

Bongino began his public service with the New York City Police Department (NYPD) in 1995. In 1999, he transitioned to the U.S. Secret Service, where he served until 2011, protecting Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

After leaving the Secret Service, Bongino ventured into politics, running unsuccessfully for Congress three times as a Republican. He then shifted to media, becoming a prominent conservative commentator.

His podcast, “The Dan Bongino Show,” gained substantial popularity, leading to roles such as hosting “Unfiltered with Dan Bongino” on Fox News.

Known for his fervent support of President Trump, Bongino has been a vocal critic of mainstream media and is known for his willingness to delve into conspiracy theories, including some related to the FBI and election integrity.

President Trump appointed Bongino as the Deputy Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on February 23, serving under newly confirmed FBI Director Kash Patel. Neither Bongino nor Patel have had prior experience as FBI agents.

Bongino’s role as Deputy Director involves overseeing the bureau’s day-to-day operations and its global intelligence and investigative activities. As of Monday, Bongino has assumed his duties as Deputy Director.
