Cracker Barrel Returning to ‘Old Timer’ Logo After Backlash

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store announced Tuesday that it will scrap its newly unveiled logo and return to its classic design featuring the “Old Timer,” following widespread customer backlash.

“We thank our guests for sharing your voices and love for Cracker Barrel. We said we would listen, and we have. Our new logo is going away and our ‘Old Timer’ will remain,” the company said in a statement.

“At Cracker Barrel, it’s always been – and always will be – about serving up delicious food, warm welcomes, and the kind of country hospitality that feels like family,” the company continued. “As a proud American institution, our 70,000 hardworking employees look forward to welcoming you to our table soon.”

Cracker Barrel said the “Old Timer” will remain not only in its logo, but also on menus, signage, and in stores nationwide.

Trump and White House React

Deputy White House Chief of Staff Taylor Budowich said Cracker Barrel leadership had called to thank President Donald Trump for weighing in on the controversy.

Budowich wrote that the company acknowledged “customer response (the ultimate poll)” and would restore the logo.

Trump himself praised the move: “Congratulations ‘Cracker Barrel’ on changing your logo back to what it was. All of your fans very much appreciate it. Good luck into the future. Make lots of money and, most importantly, make your customers happy again!”

Backlash Against Rebrand

The reversal comes after Cracker Barrel faced sharp criticism for replacing its decades-old logo — featuring the “Old Timer” character leaning on a barrel — with a streamlined text-only design.

The rebrand sparked widespread complaints from longtime fans and led to a dip in the company’s stock price.

Earlier this week, the company admitted it “could have done a better job sharing who we are and who we’ll always be” but maintained that its values of “hard work, family, and scratch-cooked food made with care” had not changed since its founding in 1969.
