Comedian Reggie Carroll — a Baltimore native who toured nationally with his stand-up routines — was shot and killed in Southaven, Mississippi, last week, authorities confirmed. He was 52.
Police Response and Arrest
The Southaven Police Department said officers responded Wednesday night to Burton Lane after reports of an isolated shooting and found Carroll suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite “life-saving” measures, he died from his injuries.
“One male is in custody and has been charged with the murder of Reginald Carroll. Our thoughts are with the family of Mr. Carroll,” police said in a statement.
The suspect’s identity has not yet been released.
Career in Comedy and Television
Carroll built a loyal following through his stand-up performances, often billing himself as “The Knockout King of Comedy.”
He also appeared on television shows including Showtime at the Apollo and The Parkers, according to IMDb.
Tributes from Friends and Family
Fellow comedian Mo’Nique, 57, remembered Carroll as her “brother in comedy,” sharing memories of touring together. “I have no sad tears because all of our time together was amazing,” she wrote.
Carroll’s brother Jonathan also thanked supporters: “To all who have expressed condolences on the passing of Reggie Carroll, your love has been well received — thank you!!!”
