Clintons Agree to Testify as Epstein Investigation Intensifies

Hillary Clinton is scheduled to give a congressional deposition on Thursday as investigators press deeper into Jeffrey Epstein’s network.

Former President Bill Clinton is slated to follow on Friday, ending months of refusal that almost led to contempt citations.

The bipartisan investigation has brought Republicans and Democrats together to pursue answers about Epstein’s criminal enterprise and the powerful people around him.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., says he plans to release deposition video and transcripts as soon as the Clintons approve them.

The panel voted unanimously last July to subpoena the former first couple after prolonged delays.

When the Clintons persisted in refusing to appear, the committee in January voted to hold them in contempt of Congress, a move that could have led to a Justice Department referral.

It was only under that intensified pressure that the Clintons agreed to provide sworn testimony.

Hillary Clinton insists she never knew Epstein personally while acknowledging she crossed paths with Ghislaine Maxwell, who is serving prison time for sex trafficking.

She told the BBC that Bill Clinton took some flights on Epstein’s airplane for charitable work and that she did not recall ever meeting Epstein.

She added that Epstein and Maxwell were convicted of horrific crimes and that the focus should remain on the victims.

The Clintons say they severed ties before the full scope of Epstein’s crimes became public and have repeatedly demanded the complete release of the files.

Republicans have been clear they will not let the former first couple evade sworn testimony indefinitely.

In an eight-page letter explaining their initial refusal, the Clintons wrote that they were ready to fight for the country, its principles and its people, regardless of consequences.

Hillary Clinton also demanded the depositions be public and accused Republicans of using the process for political theater.

She said Republicans ignored information provided under oath and challenged them to hold the proceedings openly.

Committee Republicans counter that the Clintons’ lawyers accepted deposition terms at the last minute and later objected to standard video procedures.

Bill Clinton’s name appears in Epstein-related files and flight logs showing travel on Epstein’s jet, though he denies visiting Epstein’s private island.

No one other than Maxwell has been charged in connection with Epstein’s crimes, and appearing in records does not by itself prove criminal wrongdoing.
