Bill Clinton told House Oversight investigators he had no reason to believe Donald Trump was involved with Jeffrey Epstein, according to Chairman James Comer.
Deposition highlights
Comer told reporters that Clinton said Trump “has never said anything to me to make me think he was involved” with Epstein.
The closed-door deposition took place at the Chappaqua Performing Arts Center in Westchester County near the Clintons’ longtime New York home.
The deposition began at 11 a.m. after months of negotiations between committee lawyers and Clinton’s legal team and after Republicans had warned of potential contempt proceedings.

Context and reactions
Hillary Clinton sat for a lengthy closed-door interview with the committee one day earlier.
Chairman Comer emphasized that neither Bill nor Hillary Clinton is currently accused of wrongdoing in connection with Epstein.
Republicans say they are seeking clarity on Epstein’s network and the powerful individuals who associated with him over the years.
Jeffrey Epstein died in federal custody in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
Clinton has acknowledged taking multiple trips on Epstein’s private jet in the early 2000s and has denied any knowledge of or involvement in criminal conduct.
President Trump has also faced questions about past social interactions with Epstein in the 1990s and early 2000s and has said he cut ties long before Epstein’s 2008 conviction.
Clinton’s remark, as described by Comer, is likely to intensify debate over the scope and direction of the Oversight Committee’s probe.
Democrats have sought to broaden scrutiny while Republicans have focused on obtaining sworn testimony from those with documented ties to Epstein.
Comer concluded his comments by saying, “I’ll let the Democrats have the podium and they can answer your questions.”
With both Clintons deposed, lawmakers will continue reviewing testimony and documents as part of the ongoing probe into Epstein’s network and any institutional failures that allowed his crimes to persist.
