Chicago Man Shot Dead During Facebook Live Stream

In another tragic example of Chicago’s out-of-control violence, 42-year-old Kevin “Tugg” Watson was fatally shot while livestreaming from his car on Facebook, according to ABC 7 Chicago.

Murder Captured on Livestream

The attack occurred around 6 p.m. Wednesday in a parking lot on the 5000 block of West Madison Street in the South Austin neighborhood — just blocks from a police station.

Watson’s livestream, which has been viewed over 2.5 million times, captured him greeting someone with “What’s up, bro?” before quickly exiting his car. His final words — “Hell no” — were heard before gunfire erupted.

Police say the shooter pulled up in another vehicle and opened fire at close range.

Beloved Father and Community Figure

Watson, a father to a 7-year-old son and former podcast host, was rushed to Mt. Sinai Hospital where he briefly regained a pulse before succumbing to massive blood loss. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the cause of death as a chest gunshot wound.

His sister, Shamika Watson, described him as her “best friend” and a trusted figure in the community. She believes the killing was not random but a betrayal by someone her brother knew.

“My brother trusted too many people… He loved to dress, he loved to look nice, and a lot of people hated on him for that,” she told NBC News. She pleaded for the killer to turn himself in: “We’re not going to quit. That’s our brother.”

Robbery Suspected Over Necklace

Investigators have not publicly disclosed a motive, but speculation has centered on robbery — specifically targeting Watson’s custom “Tugg” chain. No suspects are in custody.

Chicago’s Violent Crime Crisis

Watson’s murder adds to the grim toll of violence in Chicago. As of June 30, 2025, the city has recorded 192 homicides.

President Donald Trump has recently floated deploying the National Guard to Chicago, similar to his federalization of the D.C. police, to address spiraling urban crime waves that local leadership has failed to contain.
