Cherished Comedian and Actor Passes Away at 42

Alex Duong, a renowned comedian and actor recognized for his appearances on Jeff Ross Presents Roast Battle and Blue Bloods, has sadly passed away at the age of 42 following a yearlong battle with cancer.

A close family friend, Hilarie Steele, shared that Duong succumbed to septic shock on Friday night, with his final moments spent at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, California, surrounded by loved ones.

His diagnosis of alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma—a rare and highly aggressive form of cancer—came after he experienced persistent headaches behind one eye. Following a biopsy, the tumor was identified as extremely aggressive, leading Duong to sport an eye patch during treatment.

Community Support

As Duong’s health deteriorated, numerous comedians rallied to support him. In August, a benefit comedy show titled “The Alex Duong Has Cancer In His Eye Comedy Benefit Show” raised funds, featuring acts like Ronny Chieng and Atsuko Okatsuka.

A GoFundMe organized by Steele gained traction during his fight, initially aimed at assisting Duong with his medical expenses and eye recovery. This initiative has now shifted to provide ongoing support for his family, including his young daughter, Everest, and his wife, Cristina.

Duong’s passing serves as a poignant reminder of life’s unpredictability, even for someone whose career focused on bringing joy to others. Friends and fans have been sharing heartfelt memories and condolences online while rallying to support his bereaved family through this difficult time.
