Chaos in Iran’s Leadership as US and Israel Strike Hard

The Iranian regime is in crisis, as missile assaults escalate and its leadership disintegrates. Following the assassination of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, the power struggle deepens with Mojtaba Khamenei struggling to assert control.

Mojtaba was selected to succeed his father after Khamenei was reportedly killed during an Israeli strike on February 28. However, doubts about his ability to lead are rising.

After being wounded in the same attack, Mojtaba has been largely silent, issuing statements without making a public appearance, creating a perception of weakness.

Kobi Michael, a defense analyst, described him as “an empty entity” and highlighted how the current Iranian leadership is adrift.

Michael noted that Mojtaba’s absence signifies a lack of control over the regime, suggesting that the Iranian leadership is confused and misfunctioning.

Persistent Attacks on Iran

The circumstances surrounding the elder Khamenei’s assassination contribute to a narrative of disarray. Reports indicate that Mojtaba narrowly escaped the Israeli missile strike that targeted their quarters.

Israel’s campaign against Iranian leadership is reportedly inflicting severe damage. Recent strikes have led to the deaths of high-ranking officials, including Iranian Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib.

Analysts assert that this move is part of a calculated strategy aimed at crippling Tehran from within.

Aiming for Regime Change

This approach is not merely about military success; it seeks to induce regime change internally. Michael emphasized that weakening the Iranian regime is crucial for the stability of the broader Middle East.

By destabilizing the regime’s control, both the U.S. and Israel aim to create conditions favorable for the Iranian populace to rise against their leadership.

The ultimate objective, in their view, is to facilitate a scenario where the Iranian people can dismantle the regime, a goal that aligns with their broader strategic interests.
