Several American Catholics are expressing their disapproval of a cover photo in which Rihanna is depicted as a provocative Catholic nun, considering it to be a disrespectful and “blasphemous” attack on religious sisters.
In response to the Spring 2024 cover of Interview magazine, which showcases Rihanna dressed as a nun and includes an interview titled “Rihanna Is Ready to Confess,” the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property (TFP) has initiated a petition campaign to voice their protest.
“In the cover photo, the debauched celebrity is dressed in the traditional clothing associated with nuns and sisters,” the group’s website states.
The group called Rihanna “a pop singer infamous for her vile songs and pornographic photo shoots.”
TFP claims that Rihanna and Interview magazine have shamelessly ridiculed the sanctity of nuns in their latest publication.
Another website went as far as describing the cover featuring Rihanna as “a horny nun.”
The petition states that Interview committed “a grave offense to Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Church and all religious orders.
“There is no respect for the dignity of Catholics and their beliefs.”
Besides the photograph, the Rihanna interview is notably focused on God.
