Bruce Willis Living in Separate Home Designed for His Dementia Care

The family of Hollywood icon Bruce Willis has made difficult choices regarding his care as his health declines from frontotemporal degeneration (FTD), a progressive form of dementia.

His wife, Emma Heming Willis, revealed in a new ABC documentary that the 70-year-old actor now lives in a second home with round-the-clock medical support.

A Second Home for Care

Heming said the move was necessary to provide a space tailored to their daughters, Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 11, while ensuring Willis still receives constant attention from a dedicated health team.

“I knew, first and foremost, Bruce would want that for our daughters. He would want them to be in a home that was more tailored to their needs, not his,” Heming told Diane Sawyer.

She added that Willis’ new residence, a single-story house designed to meet his daily needs, is filled with “love, care, and laughter.” The family remains closely involved, accompanying him on morning and evening walks.

Struggles With FTD

Willis was first diagnosed with aphasia in 2023, a condition that affects the ability to process and remember words. His condition later progressed to FTD, which causes memory loss, confusion, and difficulty recognizing faces.

FTD has no cure, but Heming said moments of Willis’ personality still break through. “We get moments when we see his personality shine through — his hearty laugh, his smirk, or that twinkle in his eye,” she said.

Although Willis has largely lost his ability to speak, the family has developed new ways to communicate with him.

From Hollywood Star to Family Focus

Willis’ career spanned decades, from his breakout in Die Hard to hit films like The Sixth Sense and The Fifth Element.

In recent years, memory struggles forced him to step away from leading roles and eventually retire from acting.

Now, his family is focused on ensuring his remaining years are surrounded by stability, care, and love.
