BREAKING: Rioters Storm Minneapolis Courthouse

A large group of rioters stormed a federal courthouse and proceeded to smash windows in downtown Minneapolis on Wednesday afternoon, as unrest continues to spread following an ICE-involved shooting earlier in the day.

Footage obtained by Mercado Media shows a contingent of rioters attempting to gain entry to the Diana E. Murphy United States Courthouse at 300 South Fourth Street, the main federal court facility in the city. Rioters can be heard chanting “ICE out now” while blowing whistles outside the courthouse’s main entrance.

Some of the windows outside the main entrance appear to have been smashed while rioters proceeded to bang on others. The exact size of the crowd impossible to ascertain given the video, though it appears to be in the several dozens at least.

Veteran journalist Andy Ngo reported that local left-wing extremist groups were calling for riots on social media. “I feel it’s time to riot in this city like we did for George Floyd,” said one “emergency action” organizer.

Additional demonstrations have been planned in Portland, Oregon for the night of January 7, Ngo reported.

State and federal officials have confirmed that a 37-year-old woman was killed in an ICE-involved shooting incident at the intersection of East 34th Street and Portland Avenue in South Minneapolis. The shooting occurred roughly a mile from the site of George Floyd’s death in 2020.

The incident occurred shortly after 9:30 a.m. local time, when federal agents were conducting immigration enforcement operations in the area. Footage shows at least four agents approaching a vehicle that was attempting to box agents in when the woman reversed and then accelerated forward.

Multiple angles of the incident show a federal agent standing directly in front of the vehicle when the driver accelerated forward. At that point, the agent opened fire, killing the driver, a 37-year-old woman, when at least one bullet entered the vehicle through the front windshield.

A large crowd of rioters soon gathered around the scene and proceeded to pelt federal agents with projectiles. Agents deployed less than lethal crowd control munitions before leaving the scene shortly afterwards.

Minneapolis Police continued to guard the area until around 2 p.m. local time, when they fled the scene after a crowd, estimated at roughly 400 by Fox News, gathered around the scene. Rioters could be seen hurling projectiles and banging on the windows of law enforcement vehicles as they exited the scene.

A large mob then proceeded up 34th Street, where they proceeded to harass motorists and block roadways. Additional protesters continued to gather around the scene of the initial shooting, where a makeshift memorial had been set up, throughout the course of the afternoon and early evening.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz announced during a press conference that the state National Guard is on standby, but not before claiming that agents had no reasonable right to self-defense. “I’ve seen the video. Don’t believe the propaganda machine,” the governor posted on X. “The state will ensure there is a full, fair, and expeditious investigation to ensure accountability and justice.”
