Brazil’s Supreme Court Sends Officer to Subpoena Bolsonaro in ICU After 12-Hour Surgery

Whenever we think the tyranny by Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes has reached an unsurpassable level, he goes about surprising us with an even more outrageous actions in his quest to convict and imprison Bolsonaro.

Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro was served a subpoena yesterday (23) about the criminal prosecution in the Supreme Court in which he is a defendant for the totally imaginary charge of ‘attempted coup d’état’.

The document was delivered by a court officer and signed by him around 1 pm, inside the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) bed of the DF Star hospital, in Brasília, where he has been hospitalized since the 12th.

Conexão Política reported:

“The delivery was authorized by the STF before his medical discharge, after the former president participated in a live broadcast on the internet directly from the hospital. The responsible court officer was appointed to carry out the diligence in the morning.

With the signature, Bolsonaro was officially informed about the opening of the criminal action of which he is a party. The case concerns facts related to the alleged attempt to disrupt the institution after the 2022 elections. According to the STF, the other defendants in the so-called “core 1” had already been notified between April 11 and 15, shortly after the publication of the ruling of the First Panel’s decision that accepted the complaint filed by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR).”

Across Brazil and around the world, the reactions came in hard and fast:

In the US as well:

Watch: Steve Bannon worried Moraes may have Bolsonaro killed in the hospital.

In an unsurprising but unwelcome development, the health situation o Bolsonaro took a turn for the worse.
