President Donald Trump used Labor Day weekend to highlight what the White House described as “nearly $10 trillion” in new investments for American workers — even as unfounded rumors about his health and whereabouts spread online.
The president was spotted Saturday at Trump National Golf Club in Virginia with family, putting speculation about his well-being to rest.
White House Touts “Golden Age of Prosperity”
“President Trump believes that American workers are the heart and soul of our economy, which is why he’s championed an agenda that always puts them first — from signing the largest middle-class tax cuts in history to securing nearly $10 trillion in new investments to create high-paying jobs across our country,” White House spokeswoman Taylor Rogers told Fox News.
Officials promoted what they called a “Golden Age of Prosperity,” pointing to rising wages, new apprenticeship programs, and regulatory rollbacks. More than 183,000 apprentices have started this year, alongside $84 million in training grants and an AI Action Plan to prepare workers for a tech-driven economy.
The White House also announced $61 million for homeless and at-risk veterans and said Labor Department initiatives are aimed at lowering health care costs through price transparency.
Corporate Commitments
The investment figures rely heavily on corporate pledges. At an “Investing in America” event in April, NVIDIA promised $500 billion for U.S. chipmaking, Apple pledged $500 billion to expand U.S. factories, IBM committed $150 billion for AI research, and SoftBank announced a $700 billion infrastructure project.
Trump said more than $8 trillion in corporate pledges have been made since his election.
Rumors Spread Online
Despite the economic push, the rollout was overshadowed by online speculation about Trump’s health. On Friday and Saturday, hashtags like #WhereIsTrump and #TrumpIsDead trended on X after users highlighted a blank public schedule and circulated old photos showing bruising.
One post from account Buzzing Pop read: “Donald Trump reportedly has not been seen in days, with no public appearances scheduled this weekend.”
The rumors were dispelled when Trump was photographed Saturday with his grandchildren outside the White House and later at his Virginia golf club. He was seen wearing a red MAGA hat and white polo shirt.
While the White House aimed to use Labor Day to spotlight Trump’s economic record, the weekend may be remembered just as much for his golf outing — and for silencing viral speculation about his death.
