Bill Gates Cuts Workforce Amid Epstein Controversy

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is making plans to eliminate approximately 20% of its workforce as it faces growing scrutiny over Bill Gates’ associations with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.

These layoffs were communicated via an internal email directed at employees, reflecting the foundation’s need to stabilize amid renewed investigations into Gates’ relationship with Epstein and the organization’s vetting procedures for outside engagements.

Mark Suzman, the CEO, informed staff that he has engaged an external party to review the foundation’s connections with Epstein, along with a comprehensive evaluation of policies related to new philanthropic collaborations.

“This is a challenging time for our organization in many ways, but it also highlights the critical importance of taking the tough actions now,” Suzman noted, as mentioned in the Journal. The foundation anticipates providing an update on this review during the summer.

Internal upheaval at the foundation intensified earlier this year following the Justice Department’s release of emails revealing exchanges between Epstein and foundation personnel. Included in the documents were photographs of Gates with Epstein, as well as other images featuring women whose identities have been obscured.

In February, the foundation stated it had never made any financial transactions with Epstein and did not employ him in any official capacity. They expressed regret over any interactions between their staff and the disgraced financier.

During a town hall event that month, a representative informed attendees that Gates “took responsibility for his actions” related to his relationship with Epstein.

Gates has claimed that his engagement with Epstein was solely philanthropic and acknowledged that meeting with him was a misstep. He has denied any interactions with victims of Epstein’s sexual offenses.

Nevertheless, the scandal persists. Recent disclosures of Epstein-related files included a 2013 email described as written by one of Gates’ top advisers, Boris Nikolic, but directed only to Epstein. The communication suggested that Gates sought “to get drugs in order to deal with consequences of sex with Russian girls.”

Furthermore, the same email allegedly claimed Gates had requested antibiotics in a bid to secretly drug his then-wife, Melinda Gates, as per the report.

This email appeared to be drafted notes from Epstein intended for Nikolic amid an alleged conflict. It contained a message from Nikolic that stated: “I cannot believe that you have chosen to disregard our friendship” and accused Gates of soliciting him “to be the major actor in a cover up so that you can maintain the reputation that you have worked so hard to achieve.”
